Even where businesses are not motivated by “business”, there is a requirement to be business-like. In conversation with Keith Tippett decades ago, Keith commented: We’re not in business, but we have to be businesslike. The motivation of those two young professional musicians was not to use music to support their careers, but to have careers to support their music. How strange, to type with a straight face, that seems today.

I was not a businessman, although I hope to be businesslike. And, to the extent that I am a businessman, it is nothing like the businessman (honorary) Dr. Samuel George Alder.
Mr. Alder threatened me at that meeting with legal action to compel me to remain at EG. When goodwill has gone, trust may remain. But when both have gone, good to follow them out the door.
